Age: It has been in existence from the beginning of time. Species: Doppelgänger Sub-Species: Whatever it wishes to be. Occupation: Thief. Sexual Orientation: Doesn't care. Marital Status: Single, uninterested. Eyes: Black, pupil-less. Hair: Black. Blood: It bleeds a black tar like substance, if that can even be considered 'blood'. This substance is what it is made up of. Complexion: It is unknown as a 'true' form has never been identified. Physique: Unknown. Scent: Smells of tar unless another's form is taken, then it does its best to mimic's the originals scent. Appearance: If it has not taken another's form it appears to be a slightly over sized raven with a black soulless gaze. Personality: Mischief maker.   In fiction and folklore, a doppelgänger or doppelgaenger (literally "double-goer") is a look-alike or double of a living person, sometimes portrayed as a paranormal phenomenon, and in some traditions as a harbinger of bad luck. The word doppelgänger is often used in a more general sense to describe any person who physically or behaviorally resembles another person.
  
  The creature observes those around it, even sometimes choosing to interact with its targets. It does this in order to gauge personalities as well as tone of voice in order to better mimic them once it has assumed their form. It is capable of projecting similar scents, the sounds of a particular voice, and if needed even limited 'magic' can be conjured up to complete it's guises. It has been in existence for such a long time that it has grown bored of attempting to live what one would consider a normal life. In order to entertain itself it has chosen to live a life of mischief and thievery, mimicking others in order to disrupt their lives and cause chaos for all whom have the misfortune of coming in contact with it.
  
  Somewhere hidden within the creature is a shard of some sort of black mineral. The doppelganger's powers appear to emanate from the precious stone. It does not know what would happen if someone were to try to destroy the stone but it refuses to find out and will protect it at all costs. Once it tried to hide the mineral in a 'safe' location but soon found the farther it got away from it, the weaker it became until it couldn't properly hold a form. Eventually it had to return and retrieve it, now it keeps the precious shard within it at all times.

  splitting
  It is able to split itself into two separate entities if the need arises. Control is maintained as long as the two 'pieces' remain in relatively close proximity of one another; a mile or so. If the distance increases the one containing the shard will remain stable while the other will slowly collapse.
  immortality
  Due to the nature of its existence it is seemingly impossible to kill. If another were to stab it the wound would fill in. Even removing the limbs or chopping it into a little bits causes it little to no discomfort and the tar-like substance from which it is made will gather and reform.
  blood
  The substance that makes up the doppelgänger is a black tar-like liquid. The doppelgänger is able to control and manipulate the substance due to the fact that it still remains a part of it even if separated. Consumption of the black substance is not advised as it would put a piece of the creature in the body of the consumer. Effects are unknown at this time.
  scent
  It is not able to perfectly match the targets exact scent. It is very similar but there is a hint of something different about it though it's not enough to identify the doppelgänger off of. One would not be able to discern the 'off' scent just that it existed. The only close example I can think of would be that it would smell like the intended target but perhaps they'd used a different cologne or perfume a few days prior and a hint of it still remained days later.

  Mental is a thief that caters to the black market, Shhhh. Anything rare or vauable is liable to be stolen by the creature and quickly sold off. However with it's ties it is also an excellent consultant to get a hold of things one might not otherwise be able to purchase. Although usually after the more profitable things it is not above pick-pocketing in order to put some cash in its own wallet. Mind your pockets and purses, ladies and gentlemen.
